Since its founding more than 180 years ago, Baylor University has fostered many relationships with fellow Christian institutions. These connections ensure Baylor not only has a seat at the table as a Christian Research 1 university, but that Baylor’s motto rings true – Pro Ecclesia (For the Church), Pro Texana (For Texas), Pro Mundo (For the World).

Baylor President Linda A. Livingstone, Ph.D., has faithfully represented the institution since becoming president in June 2017. A respected academic leader and business scholar, she continues to use her voice and position to advocate for Baylor and faith-based higher education.

Earlier this year, President Livingstone began serving as an Executive Committee member on the American Council on Education’s Commission on Faith-Based Colleges and Universities. Established in 2024, the Commission was created to increase visibility of the important contributions of faith-based colleges and universities and to foster collaboration between religious and nonreligious institutions on topics such as access, affordability and completion that benefit the whole of higher education.

Since its creation, the Commission has hosted annual convenings that bring together institutional leaders to explore ideas and seek solutions to the most pressing issues in higher education. At the Commission’s convening in June, President Livingstone joined five institutional leaders from different faith traditions in a discussion on how they can work together to find common ground.

“The discussion was part of a larger ACE gathering designed to highlight what faith-based universities like Baylor University can bring to the national dialogue,” President Livingstone said. “I was honored to speak alongside several fellow presidents to help ACE shine a light on the many contributions that faith-based institutions offer nationally and internationally given our unique missions.”

President Livingstone’s involvement also extends to Baptist organizations with direct connections to education and leadership. She recently join the Board of Directors of the International Association of Baptist Colleges and Universities (IABCU), which unites 46 Baptist colleges, universities and seminaries around the globe to help them better serve their students, faculty, staff and Christ. In addition, she is a member of the Executive Committee of the North American Baptist Fellowship (NABF), the regional body of the Baptist World Alliance that connects Baptist member groups across the United States and Canada. Baylor University is a member of both the NABF and BWA.

Through these positions, President Livingstone remains involved in conversations surrounding the role of Christian higher education, Baptist identity and collaboration among faith-based institutions.

President Livingstone also is a member of the Big 12 Conference Board of Directors and the Baylor College of Medicine Board of Trustees. She is the Lead Independent Director of the CSW Industrials Board of Directors.
