Demand for a Baylor education surges with record-breaking 56,000-plus applications for Fall 2024 from prospective students

WACO, Texas (Feb. 8, 2024) – Applications for Baylor University have shattered all-time records, as more than 56,000 prospective students have applied to the University for Fall 2024.

Baylor has received a record-breaking 56,674 first-year student applications for the 2024-25 academic year, an increase of nearly 18% over last year.

“Demand for a Baylor education is at an all-time high,” said Mary Herridge, B.A. ’00, M.S. ’02, associate vice president of enrollment management at Baylor. “This year, we’ve received a record-breaking number of applications, underscoring Baylor’s exceptional reputation and demonstrating that students are eager to be a part of the Baylor community.”

In addition, Baylor Campus Tours – that now begin at the Mark and Paula Hurd Welcome Center, the spectacular new “front door” to the Baylor campus – have surged 39% year-over-year, with 4,567 prospective students taking an official in-person tour of Baylor’s beautiful and vibrant campus and experiencing for themselves what Baylor is all about.

“Stepping onto the Baylor campus and engaging in a visit allows prospective students to truly ‘see’ themselves as part of our vibrant community, what it would be like to be a Baylor Bear,” said Ross VanDyke, B.A. ’03, associate vice president of enrollment management, marketing and recruitment at Baylor. “It’s where they envision their academic journey, imagine the friendships they will form and visualize the opportunities that await them. Through these visits, students gain a deeper understanding of Baylor’s values, culture and the transformative experience that awaits them over the next four years.”
