University Parks Drive to Close Overnight Under I-35 Mainlanes Beginning Tonight

May 4, 2020

WACO, Texas (May 4, 2020) - Crews plan to close all lanes of University Parks Drive under the I-35 mainlanes to prepare for installing drainage lines. This closure is planned to occur nightly from 5 p.m. to noon beginning tonight, May 4, to Wednesday, May 6.

  • Westbound drivers (toward downtown) on University Parks Drive will need to turn onto the northbound frontage road, turn around at MLK Boulevard and use the southbound frontage road to reconnect with University Parks Drive.
  • Eastbound drivers (toward the Ferrell Center) will need to turn onto the southbound frontage road, turn around at 5th Street and use the northbound frontage road to reconnect with University Parks Drive.

A reminder that crews have closed 5th Street where it crosses Dutton Avenue and connects to the northbound I-35 frontage road to reconstruct the frontage road. The roadway is anticipated to reopen later this summer.
