WACO, Texas (Oct. 22, 2015) – Thousands of Baylor University alumni and friends will return to their alma mater this weekend for the university’s 106th Baylor Homecoming celebration. It is an important weekend for the Baylor family with numerous fun and traditional activities for the university and the community to enjoy. However, the university wants to ensure a safe weekend for all.

The current weather forecast predicts heavy rain, including thunderstorms and possible flash flooding, from now throughout the weekend, prompting Baylor officials to make some changes to the Homecoming schedule.

Please note that many indoor events will continue as planned, such as Class Reunion Dinners, Pigskin Revue and Singspiration. Additional schedule updates will be noted on the Baylor Homecoming website at and on the university’s Facebook and Twitter pages. (If you have an iPhone, consider adding the Homecoming website to your home screen for quick access to schedule updates.)

Below are the current changes:

Extravaganza, Friday Night Flashback, Pep Rally Moved to Waco Convention Center

The Friday Night bonfire and fireworks show have been canceled. However, Extravaganza, Friday Night Flashback and Pep Rally will go on as planned on Friday but with a change in location to the Waco Convention Center on Washington Avenue in downtown Waco. Doors will open at 7 p.m., with the Golden Wave Band performing at 8:45 p.m. followed by the pep rally at 9 p.m. led by Baylor yell leaders and an expected visit from the Baylor football team

Extravaganza will include plenty of opportunities for the Baylor family and local community to gather together, enjoy an evening of family fun and entertainment and cheer on the Bears for Saturday’s game. The indoor event will feature inflatables, live music, free refreshments, Baylor and Homecoming merchandise from the Baylor Bookstore, Homecoming displays and the debut of the new Eternal Flame sculpture.

Friday Night Parking and Shuttle Service

Free parking in downtown Waco lots will be available for Extravaganza and Pep Rally on Friday night. Campus residents and guests may park in Baylor’s Speight Parking Garage at Speight and 4th Street on Friday evening. A limited number of shuttles will be available from campus to the Convention Center and back to campus.

Homecoming Parade Canceled

Due to the high risk for heavy rain and lightning Friday into Saturday, the Baylor Homecoming Parade has been canceled. Plans to showcase the parade floats that Baylor organizations have put so much time and effort into creating will be announced at a later date.

Football Game, #StripeMcLane

Rain or shine, the football game between the second-ranked Baylor Bears and the Iowa State Cyclones will kick off at 11 a.m. Saturday at McLane Stadium. Get your green and gold apparel (or rain ponchos!) and #StripeMcLane for the nationally televised game on ESPN. Find out what color your section will be wearing here. Remember, per stadium rules, no umbrellas are allowed in McLane Stadium.
