Baylor’s Martin Museum of Art Will Showcase Student Works in B.F.A. Senior Exhibition

WACO, Texas (Nov. 16, 2015) – Baylor University’s Martin Museum of Art and the department of art in the College of Arts & Sciences will host their biannual Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) Exhibition from Thursday, Nov. 19, to Tuesday, Nov. 24. To kick off the exhibition, a reception will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, in the Martin Museum of Art.

“The Martin Museum of Art is always proud to exhibit the work of our Baylor students,” said Allison Syltie, director of the Martin Museum of Art. “The work shown in these exhibitions is the result of years of dedicated learning, exploration and artistic endeavor. We wish these and future students the best of luck!”

Graduating studio art seniors are required to participate in the exhibition in order to receive their degree. Students will exhibit approximately 10 pieces from their areas of concentration, such as sculpture, painting and graphic design.

“The B.F.A. Exhibition is an opportunity for graduating B.F.A. students to exhibit works of art that represent the body of work they have created through the studio art program,” said Jennifer Spry, educational coordinator at the Martin Museum of Art. “Each student participates in the planning, curating and installation process for the exhibition.”

This semester’s exhibition will feature works by graduating students Sofia Carrillo, Allie Lovell and Caroline Layne.

The event and reception are free and open to the public. Some artwork will be available for purchase.

Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. The museum is closed on Mondays, during Baylor University holidays and in between exhibitions.

The Martin Museum of Art is located in the Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Center at 60 Baylor Ave.
