WACO, Texas (April 28, 2015) – Baylor’s freshly minted Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) chapter has set a precedent of success after bringing home 43 awards April 10-11 at the 2015 State Leadership Conference at The University of Texas at Dallas in Richardson.
PBL is the collegiate fraternity division of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), an association geared towards preparing students for leadership in the professional world. The FBLA-PBL provide opportunities to showcase excellence in business knowledge and skills through its competitive events programs.
“It was one of the proudest moments of my life,” said Baylor senior Narishah Ghulamani, Phi Beta Lambda chapter president.
“Each individual did his or her best at the conference and they were being awarded at the award ceremony.”
Only a year old, Baylor’s Phi Beta Lambda business fraternity was represented by 33 students in the competition-style conference against other Texas PBL chapters. Overall, 22 Baylor students won first place, 12 won second place and 9 won third place awards. In addition, 25 students qualified for the national competition to take place in Chicago, Illinois this June.
“I believe that there is a little bit of business in every profession, and business is not only about the grades you make but also the hands you shake. PBL isn't just another student group—it gives members that opportunity to learn, travel, and grow as a business professional. By taking advantage of the many programs that Phi Beta Lambda offers, students acquire the skills that will set them apart from the average graduate,” Ghulamani said.
