WACO, Texas (Oct. 31, 2012)-The Baylor University family will catch that Baylor spirit again as they join together with students, faculty, staff and the Waco community to celebrate one of Baylor's most treasured traditions- the 103rd anniversary of Baylor Homecoming. Celebrated since 1909, the experience of Homecoming is enriched with many different campus-wide events.
Wednesday Worship: 7 p.m. Oct. 31, Waco Hall, 624 Speight Ave.
Hosted by Spiritual Life and the Baylor Chamber, the new tradition of Wednesday Worship returns once again. Leading the Baylor and Waco community in worship is Christian recording artist Josh Wilson. All are invited to attend. Admission is free.
Freshman Mass Meeting: 11 p.m. Nov. 1, Waco Hall, 624 Speight Ave.
More than 80 years after the horrific bus-train accident that claimed the lives of 10 students, the Baylor community continues to honor their names. From Jack Castellaw to William Winchester, the Immortal Ten are alphabetically presented as their story is told to the annual Freshman Mass Meeting.
Pigskin Revue: 7 p.m. Nov. 1, 6:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Nov. 2 and 7 p.m. Nov. 3, Waco Hall, 624 Speight.
Pigskin is an annual Homecoming tradition featuring the top eight winning acts from the previous spring's All University Sing competition. The musical, Broadway-style acts prepared and performed by campus organizations are complete with costumes, elaborate backdrops and props and complex choreography.
Friday Night Flashback: Friday and Saturday, Nov. 2 and Nov. 3, Bill Daniels Student Center (SUB), 1311 S. Fifth St.
Walk through a flashback of Baylor's history and traditions on display in the SUB. Showcase highlights include Sing and Pigskin, the Baylor Line, Diadeloso and a photo opportunity with the Heisman Trophy.
Singspiration: 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, Seventh and James Baptist Church, 602 James Ave.
With plenty of time to spare before the bonfire and Extravaganza, join the timeless tradition of Singspiration with the BRH Choir, Baylor Alumni Choir, the Baylor Trombone Choir and more. Admission is free.
Extravaganza/Bonfire: 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, Fountain Mall, 1360 S. Fifth St.
Held right in the center of campus, Extravaganza from 6 to 10 p.m. provides an evening of free entertainment for the entire family. The pep rally to cheer the Bears to victory is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. followed by the lighting of the bonfire built by the freshman class. Fireworks will cap the rally.
Baylor Homecoming Parade: 8 a.m. Nov. 3, downtown Waco and Baylor Campus.
Believed to be the largest in the nation, the Baylor Homecoming Parade is a first-class show of color that features bands, horse-drawn carriages, student and civic organizations and hand-made, themed floats. Find a spot early, because it will be packed! The parade begins at Eighth Street and Austin Avenue in downtown Waco and continues down Fourth Street, under the I-35 overpass before arriving around 9 a.m. on Fifth Street on the Baylor campus. The parade will be broadcast live in high definition on KCEN-TV Ch. 6 beginning at 9 a.m. and streamed online at www.baylor.edu/homecoming .
Baylor vs. Kansas football: 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, Floyd Casey Stadium.
Join thousands of Baylor fans at Floyd Casey Stadium as the Bears battle the Jayhawks. Serving as the centerpiece of the entire Homecoming weekend, the football game serves as the epicenter of Baylor pride. Sic 'em Bears!
A.J. Armstrong Tribute: Sunday, Nov. 4, McLean Foyer of Meditation, 710 Speight Ave.
An afternoon of music and tribute remarks celebrating the centennial of Armstrong's arrival at Baylor as chairman of the English department and founder of the world's largest Browning Collection. Refreshments will follow in the new Garden of Dedication, located just outside the North wing of the library.
