Baylor University Will Test Emergency Notification Systems Monday, March 8

March 4, 2010

Baylor University will test its outdoor public address and indoor voice evacuation systems throughout the day on Monday, March 8. The public is being notified so that the test will not be confused with an actual emergency. The outdoor test will include all buildings on the main Baylor campus, including the Clifton Robinson Tower, Floyd Casey Stadium and Hart Patterson Track Complex. It will not include the Louise Herrington School of Nursing in Dallas. The test of the indoor evacuation system will be carried out in all residence halls, Moody Library, East Parking Garage, McMullen-Connally Faculty Center and the Baylor Sciences, Hankamer School of Business, Draper, Burleson, Old Main and Sid Richardson buildings. The outdoor and indoor systems are part of the university's overall emergency preparedness effort. In the event of an actual emergency, the systems can be activated immediately to communicate evacuation information to the campus. The systems are tested at regular intervals to ensure they are in full working order. Questions about the test of the emergency notification systems can be directed to the Office of Risk Management, (254) 710-4586.
