by Richard Veit

Jeffrey Powers, assistant professor of horn and coordinator of brass at Baylor University, will present a faculty recital at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, in Roxy Grove Hall.
Powers will be joined by three other members of the Baylor music faculty: Dr. Brian Marks, assistant professor of piano: Dr. Kevin Chiarizzio, assistant professor of trombone; and Todd Meehan, visiting lecturer in percussion. Three additional hornists -- Paul Capehart, Nicole Cash and James Nickel -- will join Powers to form the quartet, TetraCor.
The program will open with American composer and organist Daniel Pinkham's Fanfare, Aria, and Echo for two horns and timpani (with Capehart), followed by Powers, Chiarizzio and Marks performing the Concertino for Horn and Alto Trombone by Johann Michael Haydn, the younger brother of the great Austrian master, Franz Joseph Haydn.
Following intermission, Powers and Marks will present Sonata for Horn and Piano by 19th-century Belgian composer Joseph Ryelandt.
The program will conclude with a world premiere, as members of TetraCor present the first-ever performance of Hugh Chandler's Suite for Horn Quartet.
The recital is free and open to the public. For more information, call the Baylor School of Music at 710-3991.
