Reynolds To Receive Founders Medal Feb. 2
Baylor University Chancellor Herbert H. Reynolds will receive the Baylor Founders Medal during the Founders Day celebration at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, during Chapel Forum in Waco Hall. Baylor President Robert B. Sloan Jr. will present the award to Reynolds in recognition of his unwavering dedication to the university throughout his life.
Reynolds became chancellor in 1995 after serving as Baylor president for 14 years. Before becoming president, Reynolds served as executive vice president of the university from 1969-1981. He holds a tenured professorship of psychology, management and higher education, and has been recognized as a distinguished alumnus of Baylor and Trinity University.
Reynolds earned his master's and doctoral degrees from Baylor and holds an honorary doctor of science from the Baylor College of Dentistry. He is currently a deacon at First Baptist Church of Waco and a director of Community Bank and Trust of Waco.
The Founders Award, established in 1969, is reserved for men and women whose service and contributions to Baylor have been uncommonly significant to its growth and prosperity.
