Alumni Association To Present Young Alumni Awards At Pigskin Nov. 10

Six Baylor University graduates will be honored as Outstanding Young Alumni by the Baylor Alumni Association during Homecoming's Pigskin Revue program at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, in Waco Hall.
This year's honorees are Betty Ann Bird, MBA '89; David Brooks '80, MBA '81; John Cullar '82, JD '84; Will Davis Jr. '84; Charles Patrick (Pat) Nunley '81, JD '84; and Hal "Trey" Wingo III '85.
Bird is the founder and executive director of Quest Leadership Consulting Inc., an organization that provides leadership and employee development seminars to companies. She lives in Auckland, New Zealand, and currently is an executive at Intrahealth, a medical consulting firm. Bird also is the co-founder of The New Zealand Productivity and Quality Center. A TCU graduate with a degree in nursing, and later a Baylor MBA graduate, she has served as a neurological/trauma intensive care nurse, the director of guest relations at Harris Methodist Health System and the assistant vice president and director of physicians at Harris Methodist.
As the newly named vice president for finance and administration at Baylor, Brooks returned to Waco this fall after a successful career in real estate and commercial investment. After earning his undergraduate and MBA degrees at Baylor, Brooks held a number of positions in the banking industry, including president and CEO of Texas Commerce Bank-Brookhollow in Dallas and the chairman and CEO of First McKinney Bancshares Inc. Prior to joining Baylor's administration, he was president of Paloduro Investments in McKinney and chairman of the board and owner of First Bank in Anna, Texas, and First Bank in Howe, Texas.
A former member of Baylor's student government and Chamber of Commerce, Cullar practices law in the Waco firm of Mills, Millar and Cullar LLP, specializing in employment and civil rights litigation. A member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, he serves as the editor of the "Government Entities" section of the General Practice Digest of the Texas state courts. In addition, Cullar is chairman of the Democratic Party in McLennan County, where he is responsible for elections and campaigns.
Davis is pastor and founder of Austin Christian Fellowship, a rapidly growing non-denominational church in Austin, which began as a Bible study in a living room and now has more than 400 weekly participants. Davis has served as pastor at a number of other churches, including Hay Valley Baptist Church in Gatesville and Springdale Baptist Church in Fort Worth. He also is the founding pastor of Austin's Milwood Baptist Church. In addition to his Baylor degree, Davis received master of divinity and doctor of ministry degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth.
The color commentator for the Baylor Basketball Radio Network for the last 17 years, Nunley is an attorney with the Waco law firm of Naman, Howell, Smith and Lee, where he has served on recruiting and compensation committees. He also has been a director of the Baylor Lettermen's Association, a member of the Baylor Development Council and a director of the Baylor Bear Foundation.
For the past three years, Wingo has anchored the high profile ESPN programs Sportscenter and Baseball Tonight. After graduating from Baylor, one of his jobs was as an NBC page in New York, where he guided tours and had access to shows such as NBC Nightly News and Late Night With David Letterman. Throughout the late '80s and early '90s, Wingo served as sports director, producer and anchor at a number of local television stations, winning three Emmys as outstanding sports reporter at KSDK-TV in St. Louis.
