Literary Contest to Award $1,000 Prize
A literary contest awarding prizes up to $1,000 will be sponsored by the Baylor University Department of English.
The contest is open to all graduates and undergraduates of Baylor. Students may submit a short story, play of film script that may not exceed 20 typed doubled space pages or submit up to three poems that are not longer than 5 pages total which are to be single-spaced typed.
Deadline for submissions is Jan. 31. Entries should be taken to Room 106 of Carroll Science Building. Only the title should appear on the cover of the entry. Author's name, local mailing address, telephone number, classification, and identification number should be listed on a separate sheet attached to the entry.
The prizes to be awarded include $1,000 cash award provided by the Blain-Roberts Foundation in honor of Dr. E. Hudson Long, former chair of the Baylor English Department, a $100 award and certificate of recognition from the Academy of American Poets, and additional cash awards given by the House of Poetry and Friends of the Department of English. The awards will announced Feb. 29 at the Beall Poetry Festival which should be attended by all contest applicants.
