Jazz Ensemble I to Perform Feb. 20

Baylor University's Jazz Ensemble I will present a concert at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, in Jones Concert Hall. The program will be under the direction of Vern Sielert, lecturer in jazz studies
In addition to the musicians of Jazz Ensemble I, two faculty members will also take part in this concert: Vern Sielert (trumpet) and Michael Jacobson, assistant professor of saxophone.
The first portion of the program will feature Sammy Nestico's "Basie Straight Ahead," Robert Curnow's arrangement of the Pat Metheny hit "Always and Forever," John Fedchock's arrangement of "Pools" by Don Grolnick, and an arrangement by Pete Rugolo of the Cole Porter standard "Love for Sale."
Following intermission the Jazz Ensemble will play "Count on Me" by Lennie Niehaus, "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight" by Lyle Mays, "The Quintessence" by Quincy Jones, Vern Sielert's own arrangement of Charlie Parker's "Confirmation," and Bill Holman's arrangement of the familiar "Malaguena" by Ernesto Lecuona.
