Family Abuse Center to Benefit at Baylor Reception Dec. 3
by Alan Hunt
A donation will be made to the Waco Family Abuse Center at a reception scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 3, at the Harrington House Faculty Dining Center on the Baylor University campus.
The program, from 5:30-7 p.m., is sponsored by Baylor's Institute for Family Business as part of its monthly Waco Family Business Seminar Series. Baylor Chancellor Dr. Herbert H. Reynolds will present the check to Bobbie Crow, deputy director of the Family Abuse Center.
Robert Hughes, program director of the institute, says the Family Abuse Center was selected by the participants of the seminar series to receive the donation, which represents 10 percent of the proceeds of this year's series.
"Our participants were asked to choose a local family-oriented charity to benefit from these funds. The reception will enable them to join us in congratulating the Family Abuse Center on their selection as the recipients."
Hughes says the seminar participants also are being asked to bring with them a list of suggested program topics for 1997. "We will be awarding a free one-year membership for the 1997 Waco Family Business Seminar Series to the person bringing the most program suggestions," he said. "Memberships cost $225, so it is worth their time to come up with a long list of ideas."
The Waco Family Business Seminar Series was launched this year by the Institute for Family Business to benefit family-owned firms in the Waco area. The Institute for Family Business is a nationally-recognized organization that provides educational programs for family-owned businesses throughout the state.
Hughes said the general theme of all the institute's programs is helping family-owned businesses achieve "healthy, sustainable growth."
