Baylor Regents Appoint Bishop As Journalism Chairman
WACO, Texas - Baylor University Board of Regents confirmed the appointment of Dr. Michael E. Bishop as chair of the Department of Journalism for a three-year term beginning with the 1996 spring semester and continuing through the 1998 fall semester. Bishop had been serving as interim chair of the department.
Bishop received his bachelor's degree from Baylor in 1959. He earned a master's degree in journalism and international relations from Columbia University and a doctorate in mass communication research from the University of Wisconsin.
In other business, the regents:
* Proceeded with the previously approved construction of a panhellenic building to serve the university's sororities. The funds will be raised by the sororities with all operating costs to be paid by the sororities. The university will provide the land at no charge and will own the building.
* Discussed the university's acquisition of the Christian Mission Concerns Child Development Center. The center will serve the children of Baylor faculty, staff and students and as day-care and lab experience for students in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences.
