Historic Village to Celebrate Christmas 100 Years Ago
WACO, Texas - Christmas traditions of 100 years ago, which offer sharp contrast to the commercialized holidays we have today, can be seen from 1-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 16-17, at Baylor University's Gov. Bill and Vara Daniel Historic Village.
Viewers can gather at the landlord's house for the Christmas tree decorating, or see the blacksmith plying his trade, or view other workers from that era who did not get Christmas day off.
Farmers frequently made presents from cloth scraps and other odds and ends they had in their homes. Viewers will be able to make decorations for the landlord's tree or take them home.
Admission to the Christmas event is $3 for adults, $2 for senior adults and $1 for students kindergarten through college. Baylor students faculty and staff are admitted free with I.D.
