Baylor to Sponsor Bible Conference Sept. 15-16
WACO, Texas -- The Baylor University Department of Religion, in conjunction with the George W. Truett Theological Seminary and the Waco Baptist Association, will sponsor the Baylor Bible Conference, Friday and Saturday Sept. 15-16, in Miller Chapel of the Tidwell Bible Building.
Attendants of this year's conference will have the historic opportunity to attend the inauguration ceremony for President Robert B. Sloan Jr., the 12th president of Baylor. They will also receive complimentary tickets to the Baylor/Mississippi State football game.
The guest speaker and worship leader for the conference will be Dr. Paul A. Basden, pastor of Brookwood Baptist Church in Birmingham, Ala. Basden has also pastored churches in Texas and served as minister to the university at Samford University in Birmingham.
Leading Bible studies on the book of Amos will be Baylor faculty members Dr. J. Randall O'Brien, associate professor of religion, and Dr. John Wood, professor of religion.
A conference for ministers' spouses will be held during the Bible conference at the Bobo Baptist Student Center. The conference will be directed by Dr. Glenn Booth, coordinator of the Ministers Counseling Service of the Baptist General Convention of Texas. The spouses conference will focus on the theme "Prayer for the Storms of Life."
The cost of the conference is underwritten by Baylor University.
