Up-and-coming Florida singer-songwriter McCoy Moore will open in support of Old Dominion, as one of mainstream country music’s most popular live groups brings its electrifying show to Baylor University’s Paul and Alejandra Foster Pavilion Friday, Sept. 18, at 7:30 p.m. in Waco, Texas.
Tickets for Old Dominion, as well as concert parking in the Pavilion garage, are on sale now at baylorbears.com/tickets.
The concert by the 8-time ACM and 7-time CMA “Group of the Year” is just one of the highlights of Baylor’s Family Weekend Sept. 18-19, which includes new and exciting events for parents such as the Wake Up! coffee crawl Friday morning in Downtown Waco, as well as traditional favorites Taste of Waco, After Dark and Saturday’s Baylor-Louisiana Tech football game.
Last year’s Family Weekend featured two-time GRAMMY winner Lauren Daigle at Foster Pavilion, and Old Dominion continues the wave of momentum for top entertainment set for this fall – and beyond – at Waco’s new premier concert venue.
“Old Dominion is one of those bands that takes you to another time and place and always creates a good time,” said Jason Cook, vice president for marketing and communications and Baylor’s chief marketing officer. “They have a loyal following across the country as evidenced by an impressive awards list – they are one of the most popular country pop groups of all-time. We continue to be blessed by the A-list, national artists who are coming to Waco and Foster Pavilion to enrich our local community and bring the Baylor Family together.”
ABOUT OLD DOMINION
While part of Baylor’s Family Weekend activities, the Old Dominion concert at Foster Pavilion is open to anyone, and you don’t want to miss Old Dominion’s skyscraping anthems and electrifying live shows, which have put the multi-platinum-selling band prominently at the forefront of country music. Fusing clever lyrics and an infectious sound in hits such as “I Was On A Boat That Day” and “Memory Lane,” Old Dominion’s lyrical wit and hook-heavy songwriting has certainly proved to be a winning formula for Nashville’s hottest band.
Since breaking onto the music scene, the band has notched nine No. 1 singles at country radio, surpassed six billion on-demand streams and earned over a dozen RIAA Platinum and Gold single certifications. In addition to their massive radio and streaming successes, Old Dominion has received numerous awards, accolades and nominations from the GRAMMYs, CMAs, CMT, American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards and iHeart Radio. The band took home their seventh successive win for “Vocal Group of the Year” at the 2024 CMA Awards – the longest streak in CMA history – and won their historic eighth consecutive “Group of the Year” win at the 2025 Academy of Country Music Awards, breaking the records for both all-time and most consecutive wins in the category.
ABOUT MCCOY MOORE
With a style rooted in the charm of his Central-Florida home, Sony Music Entertainment’s McCoy Moore makes country music so radiant and relaxed it should come with SPF 50. Through beaming baritone vocals and a warm sonic glow, the singer-songwriter embodies the land of perpetual summer, complete with its easy-does-it code of humble sincerity. On his debut album, Sunshine State, the Lakeland native shows Florida is much more than a vacation destination – it’s the place that made him the artist he is.
A lifelong country fan schooled on late ‘90s and early 2000s radio, Kenny Chesney (his first concert), Tim McGraw and Keith Whitley were the soundtrack to travel baseball and day trips to the beach, before a chance encounter with Luke Combs in 2017 helped propel Moore to Nashville at 19 years old. Wrapping nostalgic real-life stories in a rich, resonate country baritone, he began releasing music in 2025 with tracks like “Something to You,” and has now accumulated more than 17 million global streams while touring with HARDY, Kip Moore and Chase Rice.
But his heart remains in the Sunshine State. Co-writing all but one of 14 songs produced by hit maker Will Bundy (Riley Green, Ella Langley, Thomas Rhett), modern muscle and a throwback country spirit tap the nostalgic heat of long-gone summers, while Moore’s vocal carries the buzz of an incoming thunderhead. Heavy bass lines and steel guitars hang thick like Spanish Moss off an old Live Oak (much like the one on the album’s cover, which was shot in his grandparents’ garage), with soaring emotions and bright melodies begging to be cranked up loud. Over and over, vivid memories transform into singalong revelations of Moore’s Sunshine State.
