4 P.M. Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025
WACO, Texas (Jan. 8, 2025) - With the National Weather Service placing Waco, McLennan County and Central Texas under a Winter Storm Advisory, precipitation is likely for Waco/McLennan County from Thursday into Friday, Jan. 9-10. The type of precipitation will be dependent on temperatures. Rain/snow mix and icing is possible.
Baylor University-Waco campus will transition to remote operations Thursday-Friday, Jan. 9-10, 2025. Normal campus operations will resume on Saturday, assuming weather conditions have improved.
The spring semester has not resumed, and classes will not be impacted. Wintermester classes are already virtual and will not be impacted. Any classes at Truett Seminary and Baylor Law School will move to remote instruction Thursday and Friday.
The main weather impact on the Waco/Central Texas area is expected to be ice-related, making road conditions hazardous. We strongly encourage students, faculty and staff to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary.
For staff who are unable to telework, please consult your direct supervisor.
Campus preparations by Baylor Facilities are already underway, such as adjusting building temperatures and airflow, prepping sidewalks and parking garages, draining water reservoirs and dripping faucets. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has begun treating area roadways in anticipation of icy conditions.
Please remember to:
- Plan your travel ahead of time and monitor weather conditions.
- Remember the Four P’s: Take care of people, pets, plants and pipes.
- Be very cautious on roadways, sidewalks and other surfaces.

The spring semester has not started, so classes will not be impacted by this current weather pattern. Baylor Law School and Truett Seminary will hold classes via remote instruction Thursday-Friday. Wintermester classes are already online.
DINING AND FOOD
Campus dining halls are not open for the semester as students are not on campus yet.
LIBRARIES
*Moody Memorial Library and Jones Library will remain open with current interim hours of 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Special libraries will be closed Thursday and Friday. (UPDATE: All Baylor campus libraries will be closed Thursday-Friday.)
