Baylor University will be closed on Friday, July 4, in observance of the Independence Day holiday. Below are events around the University and the City of Waco to celebrate the Fourth of July.

McLane Carillon Patriotic Music Recital
University Carillonneur Lynnette Geary will ring a recital of patriotic music on the McLane Carillon – located in the gold-domed tower of Pat Neff Hall in the heart of campus – at noon on Wednesday, July 2. The program, which will last about 25 minutes, is free and open to the public. Bring a picnic and find a shady location on the grounds for the recital.
Geary will open the recital with Herbert Colvin’s arrangement of “Doxology” by Geneva Psalter, followed by “The Star Spangled Banner” by John S. Smith, arranged by Milford Myhre. Next, Geary will perform “Lift Every Voice and Sing” by J. Rosamond Johnson, arranged by John Courter, “This Land is Your Land” by Woody Guthrie, arranged by Lee Cobb, and “Chester” by William Billings, arranged by Myhre.
The recital will conclude with Leen t’Hart’s arrangement of “America,” “Once to Every Man and Nation” by Thomas John Williams, arranged by Beverly Buchanan, and Myhre’s arrangement of “America the Beautiful” by Samuel A. Ward.

Baylor University closed on July 4
Baylor University offices will be closed and no classes will be held in observance of the Independence Day holiday.
CANCELED: City of Waco Fourth on the Brazos
DUE TO THE WEATHER, THE CITY OF WACO HAS CANCELED THE JULY 4 FOURTH ON THE BRAZOS EVENTS.
The City of Waco’s Fourth on the Brazos celebration will be held on July 4 at Touchdown Alley next to Baylor’s McLane Stadium, located at 1001 S. MLK Blvd. Gates open at 6 p.m., and the H-E-B Fireworks Extravaganza kicks off at 9:15 p.m. Fourth on the Brazos is FREE, thanks to sponsors like H-E-B and the City of Waco.
Schedule of Events:
6 p.m. – Gates Open
7:45 p.m. – Sister Sledge featuring Sledgendary
9:10 p.m. – Patriotic Ceremony by the Waco Community Band
9:15 p.m. – H-E-B Fireworks Extravaganza
