Paving of I-35 Southbound Frontage Road Begins Tonight from 5th to 10th Streets

WACO, Texas (Aug. 18, 2020) - Beginning tonight, the Texas Department of Transportation plans to begin paving work on the southbound frontage road from 10th Street to the 11/12th Street areas, across I-35 from the Baylor campus.

  • Tonight, Tuesday, Aug. 18, at 7 p.m., crews plan to close the southbound frontage road from 10th Street to the 11th/12th Streets area. Crews also plan to close 10th Street, and local access will be maintained via 8th, 9th, and 17th/18th Streets.
  • At 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, crews plan to close the southbound frontage road from 5th to 8th Streets, the southbound I-35 entrance ramp just south of 5th Street, and 6th and 7th Streets at the southbound frontage road. Local access will be maintained via 4th/5th and 8th Streets.
  • Finally, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, crews plan to close the southbound frontage road from 8th Street to 10th Street for paving work. Crews also plan to close 8th and 9th Streets at the southbound frontage road, and local access will be maintained via 6th, 7th, and 10th Streets.

Overnight Lane Closure Hours

Monday to Thursday: 7 p.m. – 6 a.m.
Saturday: 7 p.m. – 10 a.m.
Sunday: 10 p.m. – 6 a.m.

Signage for all closures will be in place to inform and direct drivers. Schedules are dependent on weather, field conditions and work progress.
