Northbound Exit Ramp to University Parks Drive to Close

WACO, Texas (April 18, 2020) - Construction crews will begin work Sunday night, April 19, to permanently remove the existing I-35 northbound exit to University Parks Drive (Exit 335B).

• Work will begin Sunday night with the closure of the exit ramp, with removal beginning as early as Monday, April 20.
• Drivers will need to use the shared northbound temporary exit for 8th and 4th/5th Streets (Exit 335A) to access University Parks Drive.
• Once the exit is closed and removed, crews will begin work to reconstruct the northbound frontage road, which was originally planned to begin late this year.

In order to remove the exit ramp safely and efficiently, crews will need to close all lanes on 4th and 5th streets and the southbound entrance ramp south of 5th Street, beginning on Monday night.

• Crews plan to close all lanes on 4th and 5th Streets below the I-35 mainlanes and the southbound entrance ramp just south of 5th Street starting at 7 p.m. Monday, April 20.
• On Tuesday, April 21, crews plan to re-open 4th Street by noon and 5th Street by 6 a.m. Additional lane closures will be in place Tuesday, April 21, and Wednesday, April 22, as needed, to complete clean-up.
• Once the removal and clean-up of the University Parks Drive exit ramp is complete, the southbound entrance ramp will re-open.

To cross under I-35, those traveling westbound on 4th Street will be directed to the northbound frontage road where they can turn around using University Parks Drive and reconnect with 4th Street using the southbound frontage road.

Those traveling eastbound on 5th Street will be directed to the southbound frontage road where they can turn around using 18th Street and reconnect with 5th Street using the northbound frontage road.
