I-35 Update: 4th Street to Close at the Southbound I-35 Frontage Road

October 4, 2020
4th street closure

WACO, Texas (Oct. 4, 2020) – The I-35 Waco construction team plans to close 4th Street at the I-35 southbound frontage road beginning as early as 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5, for waterline work and to prepare for reconstructing the roadway. This section of the roadway is expected to be closed for the duration of this work and is anticipated to reopen in early 2021.

In order to help maintain access to businesses from 4th Street, the construction team plans to temporarily convert the roadway to two-way travel from just west of the I-35 southbound frontage road to Clay Avenue for the duration of this closure. Access to businesses on 4th Street also will be maintained via the southbound frontage road and other side streets in the area.

Travelers planning to access downtown Waco will need to use University Parks Drive or 6th Street.
