WACO, Texas (Feb. 11, 2020) – In celebration of Baylor University’s 175th anniversary, the Baylor Family will join together on Wednesday, Feb. 12, in support of areas across the University by connecting their generosity with areas of need and growth during the second annual Baylor Giving Day.

Baylor Giving Day, which is an outgrowth of the University’s Give Light campaign, is a university-wide, 24-hour fundraising event that begins at 12:00 a.m. CDT Feb. 12 and runs until 11:59 p.m. Like focused giving days around the country, Baylor Giving Day provides alumni, parents, friends, faculty, staff and students an opportunity to be a part of Baylor’s future and impact existing and new programs, student scholarships and priority funds across the University.

Members of the Baylor Family can designate gifts at any level to the college or school, student program or research initiative at Baylor that is most meaningful to them at www.baylor.edu/givingday. In addition, general contributions can be made to the “Give Light Campaign (Baylor Fund),” which can have a great collective impact by supporting many areas of campus, from academics and athletics to student life and global engagement.

During last year’s Baylor Giving Day, 2,305 donors were inspired to give more than 2,700 gifts that raised more than $520,000 in support of current and future Baylor students and programs.

“Baylor Giving Day is a way for the Baylor Family to unite in support at all financial levels, which is one of the greatest things we can do together for our University and for future Bears,” said Sarah Kathryn Hickman, assistant vice president, alumni engagement and annual giving at Baylor. “Our giving funds many scholarships for students who otherwise would not be able to attend college and supports the University’s top-notch faculty, state-of-the-art facilities and hands-on learning opportunities for students. Whether you can give $5 or $500, you are part of the Baylor Family, and your giving makes a difference.”

The Baylor Giving Day website includes a list of Baylor’s colleges, schools and units from which to choose giving priorities. In addition, some gifts may have matching dollars that are unlocked when a number of individuals support a priority. This helps gifts go even farther to increase the impact of giving. Everyone is encouraged to share their Baylor Giving Day support on social media by using the hashtag #BaylorGives.

In celebration of Baylor Giving Day on Wednesday, students are invited to sign thank-you cards from 9 a.m. to noon at Waco Hall and from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Bill Daniel Student Center.
