8th Street Entrance/Exit to NB I-35 Frontage Road to Close at Noon Friday

May 7, 2020

WACO, Texas (May 7, 2020) – Interstate-35 construction crews plan to close 8th Street at the northbound frontage road at noon tomorrow (Friday) May 8, as they begin the installation of drainage features and other work in preparation for reconstructing the northbound frontage road.

This closure is anticipated to be in place until mid-2021. The good news is that Dutton Avenue from 5th Street to 8th Street (by Martin Hall, Brooks College and Kokernot Hall) is now open and serves as an option to access 8th Street or 4th/5th streets.

All lanes on the northbound frontage road are currently closed from 14th to 9th streets. The roadway is anticipated to reopen summer 2020. Local traffic is being directed to 16th Street to connect with Speight Avenue for access to local businesses and residences through this section.

Schedules are dependent on weather, field conditions, and work progress. Follow TxDOT on Twitter for the most current updates on construction activities and lane closures @TxDOTWacoPIO.
