Baylor University's Center for Christian Music Studies Hosts the 2013 Hearn Innovators Series Lecture

WACO, Texas (March 1, 2013) - Marcia McFee, Ph.D., is a worship designer and leader who helps Christians worship God in the fullest ways at churches and conferences across the nation. She will be the guest speaker for the 2013 Hearn Innovators Series hosted by Baylor's Center for Christian Music Studies March 4 to March 6.
With her background in professional music, theater and dance, McFee presents ideas on the use of different styles of music and preaching in worship settings. She is passionate about reaching local congregations and travels extensively hosting regional workshops for ministry leaders and worship teams. Additionally, McFee designs and leads worship for conferences. She recently planned and led 22 worship services in 10 days for the international quadrennial General Conference of the United Methodist Church.
"The Hearn Innovators Series provides Baylor students with the opportunity to interact with some of the world's most prominent leaders in the field of Christian Music," said Randall Bradley, D.M.A., The Ben H. Williams Professor of Music and director of the Church Music Program and The Center for Christian Music Studies at Baylor. "Marcia McFee is widely recognized as an innovative worship leader and planner. Her energy, skill and perceptiveness will motivate students to hone their skills to lead churches of the future in meaningful worship experiences."
While on Baylor's campus, McFee will lecture in classes, meet with students one-on-one and make a public presentation. She also will teach a masterclass on worship leadership in which students will learn effective principles for this form of ministry.
The following events are free and open to the public:
Monday, March 4: Masterclass on Worship Leadership
Students will practice worship leadership and receive advice from McFee at this workshop. Student will prepare songs, hymns and scripture in advance, and then McFee will work with them in a collaborative setting. This event will take place at 3 p.m. in Miller Chapel in the Tidwell Bible Building, 600 Speight Ave.
Tuesday, March 5: Baylor Association of Church Musicians
McFee will present a lecture on the music of the church. The hour-long session is a gathering of church music majors at Baylor, but the lecture is open to all who are interested in church music. A time for discussion and questions will follow the lecture. This event will take place at 4 p.m. in Recital Hall II of Waco Hall, 624 Speight Ave.
