'Religion in the Public Square' to be Focus of Law School Debate Sept. 25

Baylor Law School will host a debate on "Framing the Debate: Religion in the Public Square" at 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25, in the Jim Kronzer Appellate Advocacy Classroom and Courtroom (room 127).

The program, which is free and open to the public, will feature Kevin "Seamus" Hasson of the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty and Dr. T. Jeremy Gunn of the American Civil Liberties Union Program on Freedom of Religion and Belief.

Moderator will be Baylor Law Professor Brian Serr, who said the debate will focus on the question how -- and under what circumstances and to what degree -- can religion play a role in the public square. He said the event is co-sponsored by the Baylor Law School chapters of the Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies, and the American Constitution Society for Law and Policy. Also participating as a co-sponsor is the Council for America's First Freedom.

The Law School also will host a reception in the student lounge immediately following the debate.
