Baylor to Host State Softball, Baseball Playoffs
Nine double-elimination state tournaments, involving boys' baseball and girls' softball teams, are scheduled from Sunday, July 30, through Sunday, Aug. 6, at the Texas State Little League Complex on the Baylor University campus.
The tournaments are expected to bring approximately 640 participants from 40 teams, according to Mike Witherwax, Texas state director.
Opening ceremonies are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Sunday, July 30, at Norcrosse Field for team and umpire introductions and a flag ceremony. A picnic is scheduled before the ceremony.
Pairings will have 9-10-year-olds on Norcrosse Field, with the championship game scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 3. Little League Baseball also will play on Norcrosse Field, with the championship game set for Saturday, Aug. 5.
Junior League Baseball will play on Senior Field, with the championship game scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 2. Games for Senior League Baseball are scheduled for Ferrell Field, and the championship game will be Wednesday, Aug. 2.
Big League Baseball will be played on Ferrell Field, with the championship game scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 3.
Little League and 9-10-Year-Old Softball will play at Hilton Field, with both divisions' championship games scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 3.
Senior and Big League Softball will be played at Cooper Field, with both divisions' championship games scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 3.
For teams requesting housing, Baylor will provide space in campus residence halls.
All games are open to the public. The 9-10-Year-Old and Little League games are free, and daily tickets for the other division games are $3 for adults and $1.50 for children. A week pass may be purchased for all games for $10 for adults and $5 for children.
