Chemical Engineering: New injector technology fundamentally improves combustion flexibility
The new swirl-burst (SB) fuel-injector technology developed at Baylor University by mechanical engineering professor Lulin Jiang, Ph.D., and her research team leverages an advanced atomization process that enables combustion of very viscous oils without any preheating. It’s a pioneering method for the efficient combustion of biofuels, using SB injector to burn glycerol/methanol blends with near-zero emissions.

Johnson, Ph.D., director of Baylor’s Institute for Studies of Religion, discusses his research on the effectiveness of faith-based initiatives that have transformed the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola, known as the most violent prison in the United States. Over five years and hundreds of interviews, Johnson and his team found that as Angola inmates go to church or Bible college, they’re more likely to forgive themselves and others, which is pivotal to transformation and rehabilitation. Gallup researchers used data from the Global Flourishing Study, an ambitious partnership between Baylor, Harvard, Open Science Foundation and Gallup, to explore the link between parent-child relationships and an adult's self-reported well-being in a sample that spanned across 21 countries. Their paper suggests that the quality of parent-child relationships predicts the well-being of adults residing in all the countries they studied.
Samford University: Empowering the Next Generation
Researchers at Samford University’s Center for Worship and the Arts and Saint Paul University (Ottawa, Ontario) received a $16,000 grant from Baylor University’s Program for the Future Church at Truett Seminary to continue a binational study of how young people experience and engage with public Christian worship.
