WACO, Texas (Dec. 13, 2019) – Crews will be lifting and placing beams under the Forrest Street bridge in preparation for constructing the turnaround lanes. To perform this work safely, a full closure of the northbound I-35 mainlanes at Forrest Street, as well as intermittent closures to the southbound I-35 mainlanes, will take place overnight on Monday, Dec. 16.

WACO, Texas (Sept. 23, 2019) – Construction crews will close a small portion of University Parks Drive near the southbound I-35 frontage road beginning as early as 7 p.m. tonight (Monday, Sept. 23) through 6 a.m., possibly over the next two nights. The closure will impact Robinson Tower during the overnight hours, but the tower parking lot entrance/exit will still be accessible.
WACO, Texas (Sept. 20, 2019) – Construction crews with TxDOT’s I-35 project will close Eighth Street to the northbound I-35 frontage road, where Dutton Avenue is under construction, beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, so work can be done on utilities in the area. This closure is expected to be in effect until 6 a.m. Monday Local access will be maintained through Fifth, Ninth and 10th streets.
WACO, Texas (Sept. 10, 2019) – Beginning tonight (Tuesday, Sept. 10), 4th and 5th Streets at I-35 will be closed overnight to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic for up to two nights. During these closures, traffic will need to use the University Parks Drive or 17th/18th Streets intersections to cross I-35.

WACO, Texas (Aug. 13, 2019) - As work continues on the southbound I-35 frontage road, I-35 construction crews have shifted the traffic pattern under the overpass on University Parks Drive. This work is expected to last about a month.
WACO, Texas (July 27, 2019) - This week, crews expect to complete the removal of the 11th/12th Street bridge, which should help normalize traffic for a while within the construction zone. Beam removal will begin overnight Monday, July 29, and last through the week. Work will start at the southbound frontage road, then the south and northbound mainlanes, finishing at the northbound frontage road.
WACO, Texas (July 23, 2019) – Crews continue progress to remove the 11th/12th Streets bridge, an operation that is anticipated to continue to early August. Timelines for July 23, July 24-25 and July 27 are estimated based on work progress and field conditions, but please note that schedules may change as work progresses. Delays are expected to occur during this work.

This is a large operation that is anticipated to last for three weeks. Timelines are estimated based on work progress and field conditions. WACO, Texas (July 17, 2019) – Demolition of the 11th/12th Street bridge is expected to begin at 7 p.m. tonight, July 17, 2019, as crews remove the bridge deck, beginning over the southbound frontage road and moving east as the work is completed. Please note that crews will close the southbound frontage road between 5th Street and 17th Street from 7 p.m. tonight to 6 a.m. Thursday.
WACO, Texas (July 15, 2019) – Traffic will be shifted Tuesday, July 16, at 7 p.m., weather permitting, from the I-35 northbound mainlanes to the southbound lanes from 4th Street to 18th Street for approximately two months. Traffic will be reduced to two lanes in each direction during this time. In addition, 8th Street exit (334B) will be closed temporarily as crews build a temporary exit ramp in a nearby location. Until that ramp is open, you will need to use the 18th - 17th Streets exit (Exit 334) to access Baylor/downtown area on 8th Street and 5th - 4th Streets. The exit to University Parks Drive (335B) remains open.

As part of the ongoing I-35 reconstruction project, TxDOT crews plan to close Dutton Avenue between South 5th Street and South 8th Street for approximately six months, beginning Monday, July 1 at 6 a.m., weather permitting.

WACO, Texas (June 12, 2019) - TxDOT has sent out a notification that the construction contractor plans to replace the traffic lights with temporary lights at the 4th & 5th Street intersections under I-35 tomorrow, beginning around 1 p.m. today (Wednesday, June 12, 2019).
WACO, Texas (June 3, 2019) – Crews plan to temporarily close the northbound I-35 Downtown 5th/4th Streets exit (335A) Monday, June 3, weather permitting, to allow for construction of the new ramp. A temporary ramp is expected to be open to traffic by early fall.

WACO, Texas (May 24, 2019) – Construction crews will permanently close the I-35 pedestrian bridge at 8th Street on Tuesday, May 28, with removal scheduled to begin that night in anticipation of the reconstruction of I-35 mainlanes. To keep crews and the traveling public safe, this will include overnight FULL southbound and northbound frontage road and mainlane closures throughout the week. WACO, Texas (April 24, 2019) - The first phase of the major, multi-year reconstruction project of a 6-mile stretch of Interstate 35 from North 340 Loop to 12th Street is set to begin this weekend and will impact traffic around the University immediately and for the duration of the project.
