WACO, Texas (Jan. 13, 2023) – As Baylor University begins the spring semester on Jan. 17, Interstate 35 construction crews will continue work at busy intersections around campus – particularly 4th/5th and 11th/12th streets – as they complete final construction on I-35.

WACO, Texas (Aug. 24, 2022) - Overnight I-35 construction work to continue installing signage along the north and southbound I-35 mainlanes will mean some partial mainlane and exit/entrance closures on I-35 along the Baylor campus.

WACO, Texas (July 11, 2022) – UPDATE: TxDOT will not be closing the exit ramps or MLK this week nor working on the northbound lanes. WACO, Texas (March 7, 2022) - Beginning Tuesday, March 8, TxDOT will close two I-35 intersections at University Parks Drive and 5th Street overnight this week by the Baylor campus.

WACO, Texas (Feb. 21, 2022) – The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has rescheduled the northbound I-35 mainlane traffic shift from US 84/Waco Drive to N Loop 340 due to expected weather events this week. These are among the final traffic shifts for the I-35 project through Waco, which is anticipated being completed by early 2023.

WACO, Texas (Dec. 14, 2021) – TxDOT plans to close intersections and an exit ramp close to campus overnight this week as crews work to reconstruct the I-35 northbound mainlanes and overpasses.

WACO, Texas (Dec. 7, 2021) - Beginning at 7 a.m. this Thursday, Dec. 9, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) plans to close 4th Street where it crosses under I-35 until early 2022.

WACO, Texas (Oct. 31, 2021) - Beginning at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 1, I-35 construction crews plan to close Dutton Avenue from 4th Street to ML Cooper by the Dutton Parking Garage. This closure will allow TxDOT to continue work to realign 4th and 5th Streets to traditional T-intersections east of the interstate by campus.

WACO, Texas (Oct. 27, 2021) - TxDOT plans overnight closures of a northbound mainlane and northbound entrance/exit ramp Oct. 27-28 to allow crews to slightly shift the temporary ramps for continued mainlane reconstruction.

WACO, Texas (Oct. 5, 2021) - Beginning tonight, TxDOT plans to close all east and westbound lanes of University Parks Drive under I-35 nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. to continue reconstructing the northbound overpass. The overnight closures will occur nightly from Tuesday, Oct. 5, through Friday, Oct. 15.

WACO, Texas (Sept. 19, 2021) - Two construction projects will impact traffic near campus on Dutton Avenue and University Parks Drive, beginning Monday, Sept. 20.

WACO, Texas (Sept. 9, 2021) - The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) plans to close all lanes of University Parks Drive where they cross under I-35 tonight (Thursday, Sept. 9) from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. and Friday, Sept. 10, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. to shift traffic onto the newly reconstructed lanes on the south side of University Parks Drive and begin reconstructing the pavement on the north side of the roadway.

WACO, Texas (July 28, 2021) - The Texas Department of Transportation plans to close a section of the southbound I-35 frontage road tonight (Wednesday, July 28) and 4th Street over the weekend for I-35 Waco construction project.

WACO, Texas (July 26, 2021) - TxDOT is working to reconstruct and remove the overpass at the Union Pacific Railroad north of McLane Stadium. Crews plan to close the northbound I-35 entrance ramp north of MLK Boulevard, beginning Friday, July 30, at 6 a.m. for up to one year.

WACO, Texas (July 9, 2021) - The Texas Department of Transportation plans to perform paving work in several areas along I-35 by the Baylor University campus in Waco next week, beginning Sunday, July 11.

WACO, Texas (June 3, 2021) - The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) plans to close the northbound I-35 frontage road alongside campus tonight (Thursday, June 3) from 5th Street to University Parks Drive from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. to work on traffic signals. During this time, signals will operate under a flashing red condition.

WACO, Texas (April 19, 2021) - Beginning tonight, TxDOT plans to close various alternating mainlanes of I-35 and exit ramps by the Baylor campus this week for striping and drainage work.

WACO, Texas (April 9, 2021) - TxDOT plans to shift all I-35 northbound mainlane traffic to the newly reconstructed lanes from BUS 77 north of McLane Stadium to N Loop 340 with work expected to begin at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 10, and be complete by 10 a.m. Monday, April 12.

WACO, Texas (March 28, 2021) - The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) plans to close 4th and 5th Streets and the pedestrian paths under I-35 as early as 9 a.m. Monday, March 29, to remove the northbound I-35 overpass at 4th and 5th.

WACO, Texas (March 21, 2021) - The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) plans to begin removing the I-35 northbound overpasses at MLK Boulevard and the Brazos River beginning Monday morning as they continue to reconstruct I-35 through Waco.

WACO, Texas (March 16, 2021) - The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) plans to shift I-35 northbound mainlanes south of BUS 77 to the newly reconstructed lanes from 7 p.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 17. The traffic shift was originally scheduled for tonight, Tuesday, March 16.

WACO, Texas (March 15, 2021) - The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) plans to shift I-35 northbound mainlanes south of BUS 77 to the newly reconstructed lanes by the Baylor campus from 7 p.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 16.

WACO, Texas (March 5, 2021) - The I-35 southbound mainlane traffic shift originally scheduled for Saturday has been rescheduled for Tuesday, March 9.

WACO, Texas (March 4, 2021) - The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) plans to shift I-35 southbound mainlane traffic to the newly completed mainlanes overnight on Saturday, March 6. This traffic shift will mark the halfway point in the four-year project to widen the interstate and improve safety and access along the I-35 corridor in Waco.

WACO, Texas (Dec. 15, 2020) - The Texas Department of Transportation plans to repair a section of pavement on the northbound I-35 mainlanes. To prepare for this work, crews plan to close the right lane of northbound I-35 from 8th Street to just south of 5th Street tonight, Tuesday, Dec. 15 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

WACO, Texas (Nov. 16, 2020) – The Texas Department of Transportation plans to close all lanes of 4th Street where they cross under the I-35 mainlanes beginning at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, for utility work. This section of roadway is expected to be closed for the duration of this work and is anticipated to re-open at 7 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18.

WACO, Texas (Oct. 19, 2020) – The Texas Department of Transportation plans to close the northbound exit for 4th/5th Streets (Exit 335A) for three overnights, beginning tonight, Monday, Oct. 19, to Wednesday, Oct. 21, for paving work. The overnight closures will be from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

WACO, Texas (Oct. 14, 2020) – The Texas Department of Transportation plans to close the northbound exit for 4th/5th Streets (Exit 335A) tonight, Wednesday, Oct. 14, and tomorrow night, Thursday, Oct. 15, for paving work.

WACO, Texas (October 6, 2020) - The Texas Department of Transportation plans to close all lanes of University Parks Drive, where they cross under the I-35 mainlanes, tonight, Tuesday, Oct. 6, to continue work on the southbound I-35 overpass. Westbound drivers on University Parks Drive will be directed to the northbound frontage road where they can cross under I-35 at MLK Boulevard or continue north to enter the northbound mainlanes. Eastbound drivers will be directed to the southbound frontage road where they can turn around at 4th/5th Streets to reconnect with University Parks Drive.

WACO, Texas (Oct. 4, 2020) – The I-35 Waco construction team plans to close 4th Street at the I-35 southbound frontage road beginning as early as 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5, for waterline work and to prepare for reconstructing the roadway. This section of the roadway is expected to be closed for the duration of this work and is anticipated to reopen in early 2021.

WACO, Texas (Sept. 18, 2020) - The Texas Department of Transportation plans to close all east and westbound lanes of University Parks Drive, just east of the I-35 northbound frontage road, for drainage work, which is anticipated to occur nightly from Monday, Sept. 21, to Wednesday, Sept. 23.

WACO, Texas (Sept. 11, 2020) - Upcoming I-35 construction will impact the Baylor campus at 8th Street for the next two weeks. The Texas Department of Transportation plans to close 8th Street at the northbound frontage road Monday, Sept. 14, at 7 a.m. to prepare for paving. This section of roadway is expected to be closed for the duration of this work and is anticipated to re-open on Monday morning, Sept. 28. Local access will be maintained via Dutton Avenue.

In addition, crews plan to close all lanes of the northbound frontage road from 17th Street to the entrance ramp just north of 17th Street nightly for paving work beginning tonight through Sunday, Aug. 16.

WACO, Texas (Aug. 5, 2020) – The Texas Department of Transportation plans to close all lanes of University Parks Drive where they cross under I-35 nightly starting tonight (Wednesday, Aug. 5) to Friday, Aug. 14, to continue reconstructing the southbound I-35 overpass. Drivers on University Parks Drive planning to cross under I-35 will need to use either 4th/5th Streets or MLK Jr. Blvd.

WACO, Texas (July 23, 2020) – Construction crews on the I-35 Waco project plan to close the northbound I-35 exit ramp (Exit 334B) for 8th Street-4th/5th Streets-Downtown-University Parks Drive from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. tonight (Thursday, July 23). Northbound drivers planning to use this exit will be directed to exit at MLK Jr. Blvd. (Exit 335C) and turn around.

WACO, Texas (June 30, 2020) – Beginning tonight, I-35 construction crews plan to set beams for the University Parks Drive southbound overpass and close all lanes of University Parks Drive, where they cross under I-35, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, to Friday, July 3.

WACO, Texas (June 22, 2020) – Construction crews will be closing all lanes of 4th and 5th Streets where they cross under I-35 beginning tonight, Monday, June 22, through Friday, June 26, from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m., as they set beams for the southbound I-35 overpass over 4th/5th Streets.

WACO, Texas (May 19, 2020) – Crews plan to close all north and southbound I-35 mainlanes near BUS 77, north of the Baylor campus, nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., beginning tonight, May 19, through Thursday, May 21. This will allow crews to continue work safely while removing the remaining sections of the southbound I-35 mainlanes and continue reconstruction work along I-35. These closures will include all east and westbound lanes of BUS 77 where they cross under I-35.

WACO, Texas (May 13, 2020) – Construction crews plan to close all north and southbound I-35 mainlanes near Forrest Street, just north of the Baylor University campus, beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 14, through 6 a.m. to continue work on the turnaround lane at Forrest Street. Additionally, to keep the traveling public safe and traffic flowing during this time, some side streets, where they cross I-35, will be closed.

WACO, Texas (May 7, 2020) – Interstate-35 construction crews plan to close 8th Street at the northbound frontage road at noon tomorrow (Friday) May 8, as they begin the installation of drainage features and other work in preparation for reconstructing the northbound frontage road.

WACO, Texas (May 4, 2020) - Crews plan to close all lanes of University Parks Drive under the I-35 mainlanes to prepare for installing drainage lines. This closure is planned to occur nightly from 5 p.m. to noon beginning tonight, May 4, to Wednesday, May 6.

WACO, Texas (April 22, 2020) - To begin constructing a new north-to-southbound turnaround at I-35 and Forrest Street, crews plan overnight closures for all northbound I-35 mainlanes between MLK Boulevard and US 84 and all southbound I-35 mainlanes between US 84 and 4th/5th Streets, beginning tomorrow night and nightly next week. Crews also have closed 5th Street where it connects to the northbound I-35 frontage road to reconstruct the frontage road.

WACO, Texas (April 18, 2020) - Construction crews will begin work Sunday night, April 19, to permanently remove the existing I-35 northbound exit to University Parks Drive (Exit 335B).
