Timely Warning Update
UPDATE: Baylor Timely Warning – Reported Kidnapping (Unfounded)
On Wednesday, October 16, 2024, the Baylor University Police Department (BUPD) received a report of a kidnapping that occurred at approximately 2:10 p.m., which resulted in a Baylor Timely Warning being sent to the campus community. Through an extensive BUPD investigation, it has been determined the reported incident did not occur and the case has been unfounded.
BUPD continues to encourage all students, faculty and staff to be alert and cautious of their surroundings when they are on or away from campus. In any active emergency, or if you see suspicious activity on or adjacent to campus, immediately report the incident to BUPD at 254-710-2222 or 9-1-1, or by using the BU Campus Guardian smartphone app.
*A note about Baylor Timely Warnings: Timely Warnings are notifications of Clery crime(s) that have already occurred and are considered by the institution to represent a serious or continuing threat to students and employees. Timely Warnings are issued in accordance with The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act or Clery Act. **According to the Texas Penal Code, filing a false report to law enforcement can be investigated and prosecuted.
